Samantha

Veterinary Technician

Samantha grew up in Niles, Michigan with her parents, brother, sister, and a wide variety of family pets. She’s been caring for four-legged companions ever since she can remember; the hours she spent watching Animal Planet’s Emergency Vets only deepened her fascination! Samantha gets to satisfy her passion on a daily basis as one of Maple City Animal Hospital’s Registered Veterinary Technicians.

Samantha began her path in veterinary medicine by volunteering with a local shelter and shadowing at a small veterinary clinic in her hometown, taking prerequisite courses in veterinary care at Southwestern Michigan College at the same time. She then moved to Michigan City, Indiana to earn her Associate’s degree in veterinary technology from Brown Mackie College.

In 2014, Samantha joined the team here at Maple City Animal Hospital as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Medically, she has a particular fondness for laboratory work and especially likes examining samples under the microscope. Samantha is also passionate about rehabilitating abandoned young pets, and even plans on obtaining her wildlife rehabilitation permit in the future!

Samantha has been married to her high-school sweetheart for more than 10 years, and together they have three rescued cats: Dexter, who considers himself a professional mouse-hunter; Morgan, who is obsessed with water and especially likes to play with the bathroom faucet; and Odin, who loves to play fetch like a dog. In her time away from work, Samantha can be found visiting the area’s parks, exploring Lake Michigan during the summers, and tending to her flowers and plants at home.
