Respect Your Cat Day

Did you know that March 28th is Respect Your Cat Day? Of course, kitties deserve—and often demand—respect every day. But how does one go about showing Fluffy the respect she is due? Well, while your kitty probably wouldn’t mind her own box castle, or a catwalk that goes around your living room, there are some much simpler options. A local Michigan City, IN vet lists a few of them below.

Don’t Force Attention

While some of our feline pals are furry little lovebugs, others are actually rather aloof, and prefer to be admired from a distance. Never try to force attention on a cat. This is a grave misstep in the kitty rulebook! If your furball doesn’t want to snuggle or sit on your lap, don’t try to make her. Just let her go, and let her choose when it’s time to cuddle.

Keep Up With Veterinary Care

Cats are fairly independent. However, Fluffy does need regular veterinary care to stay healthy. Keeping your cute pet protected from dangerous diseases and parasites is very important! You’ll also need to keep an eye out for signs of illness. Call your vet right away if you notice anything amiss.

Provide Toys/Stimulation

Fluffy may be a cute, cuddly ball of love, but she’s also a fierce predator. Offer your feline buddy lots of toys, so she can practice her pouncing and hunting skills. Regular play sessions will also keep your furball happy, active, and entertained.

Kitty Necessities

Make sure you are providing your feline friend with the things she needs. Good food, a clean litterbox, and fresh water are all crucial, but good cat care goes beyond these basics. For instance, giving Fluffy a good, sturdy scratching post will allow her to care for her claws without ruining your furniture. You may also want to leave a light on for your kitty when you will be out after dark.

Want to know how to keep your cute pet’s motor going? Make sure that Fluffy feels loved, safe, and a bit spoiled by paying lots of attention to her! Talk to her, pet her, and play with her. Brushing your pet will also help her feel pampered. Kitties are always happiest when they know they are cared for.
