Happy Mew Year for Cats Day

Did you know that tomorrow is a special kitty holiday? It’s Happy Mew Year For Cats Day! Your feline pal will be right there with you in the coming months, being adorable and perhaps a bit confusing. In fact, your pet may actually be have some plans of her own for 2019. Here, a Michigan City, IN vet discusses Fluffy’s plans for the new year.

Kitty Resolutions

If cats could be bothered to made resolutions, what goals do you think they would set for themselves? Fluffy may vow to finally catch that mysterious red dot, or maybe spend more time on your lap. She might also decide to inspect every box and paper bag you bring home. Or, she may focus on improving her napping skills. She may try to doze off in new places and positions, or just increase her sleeping times.

Celebrating

There’s a good chance that your feline friend slept through last night’s festivities, including the ball dropping. (She may also sleep through most of the coming year, but that’s another topic.) Fluffy can still celebrate, however. Offer your kitty a new toy or a special treat to start 2019 out right.

Cat Care

This is a great time to look at your cat’s care regimen, and see if anything could be improved. Make sure your feline buddy is eating high-quality, premium food, and that she always has fresh water and a clean litterbox. It’s also important to take Fluffy to the vet regularly. If your furball is overdue, make an appointment today. Finally, we strongly recommend keeping your kitty safe and sound indoors, where she’ll be safe from cars, weather, predators, and other hazards.

Purrs and Cuddles

Want to keep your cat happy and content this year? Make sure Fluffy has lots of fun toys, and take time to play with her regularly. Your furry friend will appreciate a window with a good view, where she can watch birds and squirrels and daydream about hunting. It’s also important just to pay attention to your kitty, and spend time with her. Cats are very emotional, and get quite attached to their humans. Talk to your fuzzy pal, pet her, and let her snooze in your lap if she likes. Time spent with cats is never wasted!
